The Relthoza are long time allies of the Dindrenzi, and were instrumental in defeating several Commonwealth fleets during the Terran War. They are a proud race that have evolved ove rthousands of years from a creature very similar to an arachnid, and have a warrior caste that revels in the opportunity to fight alongside the Federation Navy. Within their own territory they have an elaborate system of martial games and a strong culture of duelling among all ranks of society. Fortunately their duels are rarely to the death and more commonly result in a loss of prestige or wealth.

The Relthoza have otherwise remained aloof of day-to-day politics and commerce within the Federation. They have very little interest in the objectives of the Legislature or the methods of the Directorate, and have no desire to gain territory from their nearest neighbours, the Sorylians. This has made them a very valuable tool for the Dindrenzi, as the Dindrenzi planetary systems that lie between the Relthoza and Sorylians would otherwise be at risk of Relthoza aggression in the long term.
