The 3.7cm PaK36 was an ideal weapon for use in airborne operations. They were easily airlifted onto captured airfields and it was light enough to be moved over short distances by a few Fallschirmjäger without the aid of a tow vehicle.
During the invasion of Crete the introduction of the quadruple parachute made it air droppable, making it available for immediate action.
The PaK36 was also easily towed by light vehicles; Motorcycle combinations and Kettenkrads were often used to move the PaK36. Both were light and air transportable as well.
The PaK36 gave the Fallschirmjäger an anti-tank weapon to hold off allied armoured counter-attacks. Like the Wehrmacht version, the Fallschirmjäger’s PaK36 also had Steilgranate available to give the weapon that extra punch at short range.
